Dr Qing Li, Nippon Medical School in Tokyo on Shinrin Yoku
We are looking forward to retreating again in 2022. Waterton National Park and surrounding area is where we are planning on setting up a center.
The retreats were crafted aligning with the Japanese theory of 'Shin Rin Yoku', which translates to 'forest bathing'. It is believed, and prescribed, for various physical and mental illnesses as a treatment and preventative measure.
The 3-day retreats take place take place in the forest or wilderness, with some modern accommodations! There are individual assignments, and group activities.
We start days in silence. There is time for meditation, reflection, journaling, or walking quietly outdoors.
More than 200 people have come on the retreats since 2016. Our past retreats were held in Yoho and Banff National Parks.
